Texans Honor Andre Johnson as First Hall of Fame Player in Week 8
The Texans will honor Andre Johnson, the franchise's first Hall of Famer, with a halftime ceremony on October 30, when Houston hosts the Tennessee Titans.
Johnson was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month after a 14-year career, 12 of which were spent with the Texans. He is the franchise's all-time leader in receptions (1,062), receiving yards (14,185), and receiving touchdowns (64).
The Texans selected Johnson with the third overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, and he quickly became one of the most prolific receivers in the league. He was named to seven Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams, and he led the NFL in receiving yards in 2008.
Johnson's performance on the field was matched by his dedication to the community. He was named the Texans' Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2010, and he has been active in a number of charitable endeavors, including his own foundation, the Andre Johnson Foundation.
The Texans' halftime ceremony will be a fitting tribute to one of the greatest players in franchise history. Johnson's Hall of Fame induction is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and talent, and he will forever be remembered as one of the most beloved players in Texans history.
