Spiked booby traps found on Forest Service roads in southern Oregon
Authorities are warning outdoor enthusiasts to be on the lookout for dangerous booby traps after several were found on Forest Service roads in southern Oregon.
The traps, which consist of nails or screws driven into wooden boards and then hidden in the ground, have been found on roads in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and the Umpqua National Forest.
Forest Service officials are urging people to be cautious when recreating in these areas and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
The traps have been found on roads that are popular with hikers, bikers, and OHV riders.
In one case, a hiker was seriously injured when he stepped on a trap that was hidden in the grass.
The Forest Service is working to remove the traps and is asking the public to be on the lookout for them.

- Stay on designated trails and roads.
