Geno Smith, Uchenna Nwosu Elected as Team Leaders
RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have announced their captains for their Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Geno Smith and linebacker Uchenna Nwosu have been elected by their teammates to lead the team onto the field.
Smith has been a key part of the Seahawks' success this season, leading an offense that ranks among the top 10 in the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns. He has thrown for 1,923 yards and 14 touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Nwosu has been a standout on defense, leading the team with 4.5 sacks. He has also recorded 26 tackles and two forced fumbles.
"Geno and Uchenna are both great leaders on and off the field," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "They embody the toughness and determination that we want to see from our team."
The Seahawks will face a tough test in the Bills, who are considered one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. Buffalo has a high-powered offense led by quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
"We know that we're going to have to play our best game of the season to beat the Bills," Carroll said. "But I'm confident that our guys are up to the challenge."
