Japanese SUV planned for Ukrainian production gets even more impressive
Bogdan Motors was all set to start assembling the JAC S7 in Ukraine until war broke out, but the Chinese-owned brand has now released an updated version of the SUV that's even more appealing.
The new JAC S7 gets a more powerful engine, a more stylish interior, and a host of new features.
Originally revealed in 2018, the JAC S7 is a mid-size SUV that slots into the Chinese brand's range between the smaller S5 and the larger S9. It's based on the same platform as the S5, but it has a longer wheelbase and a more spacious interior.
When Bogdan Motors announced plans to start assembling the JAC S7 in Ukraine in 2021, it was expected to be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 150 horsepower. However, the updated S7 that was unveiled in China recently gets a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 170 horsepower.
The new engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. It's also available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
In addition to the more powerful engine, the updated JAC S7 also gets a more stylish interior. The dashboard has been redesigned with a new infotainment system and a new climate control panel. The seats have also been redesigned, and they now offer more support and comfort.
The new JAC S7 also comes with a host of new features, including a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, and a lane departure warning system. It also gets a new electronic stability control system and a new traction control system.
The updated JAC S7 is a significant improvement over the outgoing model. It's more powerful, more stylish, and more feature-packed. It's also expected to be more expensive, but it's still likely to be one of the most affordable mid-size SUVs on the market.
It's unclear when or if the updated JAC S7 will be available in Ukraine. Bogdan Motors has not yet announced any plans to start assembling the new model in the country. However, given the popularity of the S7 in China, it's likely that the updated model will eventually make its way to Ukraine.
In the meantime, Ukrainian consumers can still purchase the outgoing model of the JAC S7. It's available in three trim levels: Comfort, Luxury, and Premium. Prices start at 24,900 euros for the Comfort trim level and go up to 32,900 euros for the Premium trim level.
