UCLA Injury Update: Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s Status for Week 8
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the starting quarterback for the UCLA Bruins, is optimistic about his availability for the team's Week 8 matchup against the Oregon Ducks. Thompson-Robinson suffered an apparent right elbow injury in the first half of UCLA's 42-32 victory over the Arizona Wildcats on Oct. 22, 2022.
After the game, UCLA head coach Chip Kelly said that Thompson-Robinson's injury was not believed to be serious. However, Thompson-Robinson did not participate in UCLA's practice on Oct. 23, 2022, and his status for the Oregon game was uncertain.
Thompson-Robinson’s Importance to the Bruins
Thompson-Robinson is a key part of the UCLA offense. In 2022, he has completed 64.4% of his passes for 2,203 yards, with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Thompson-Robinson is also a threat to run the football. He has rushed for 293 yards and four touchdowns in 2022.
Backup Quarterback Ethan Garbers
If Thompson-Robinson is unable to play against Oregon, the Bruins will turn to backup quarterback Ethan Garbers.
Garbers is a redshirt freshman who has not yet taken a snap in a college football game.
