CU Buffs Star Travis Hunter “Better Than Last Week,” Will Play vs. Cincinnati, Coach Deion Sanders Says
Buffs planning to use Hunter in 'multiple roles'
Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Travis Hunter, a five-star recruit and preseason All-American, is "better than last week" and is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, head coach Deion Sanders said Wednesday.
Hunter, who missed the Buffs' season-opening loss to TCU with a hamstring injury, practiced in a limited capacity on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sanders said Hunter will play in "multiple roles" against Cincinnati, including cornerback, nickelback and punt returner.
Hunter's return is a boost for the Buffs' defense
Hunter is one of the most talented players on the Buffs' roster, and his return is a major boost for a defense that struggled against TCU.
The Buffs allowed 38 points and 495 yards of total offense to the Horned Frogs, including 242 yards rushing.
Hunter is expected to help the Buffs improve their tackling and coverage.
Cincinnati presents a tough challenge
The Bearcats are a formidable opponent, coming off of a 31-24 win over Arkansas.
Cincinnati has a high-powered offense led by quarterback Ben Bryant and running back Corey Kiner.
The Bearcats' defense is also stout, allowing just 17.3 points per game last season.
The Buffs need to start fast
The Buffs need to start fast against Cincinnati and avoid falling behind early.
The Bearcats have a knack for getting off to fast starts, and they have won their last three games by a combined score of 104-24.
The Buffs need to be ready to match Cincinnati's intensity from the opening whistle.
