Conte grabs Chelsea and Tottenham target for full-time chat after Napoli 1-0 Lecce
The race to land Netherlands defender Denzel Dumfries this summer is hotting up after Tottenham and Chelsea target held ‘full-time chat’ with Antonio Conte following Napoli’s 1-0 win over Lecce
Dumfries has been in impressive form for Inter Milan this season, with his displays attracting interest from a host of top clubs across Europe including Chelsea and Tottenham
The versatile defender, who can play at right-back or left-back, has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, but it is Conte's Tottenham who are believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Now, according to reports, Conte held a ‘full-time chat’ with Dumfries after his side's 1-0 win over Lecce on Saturday, suggesting that the Italian is keen on bringing him to north London.
Dumfries has made 29 appearances for Inter Milan this season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
The 26-year-old is a full Netherlands international, having won 37 caps for his country.
He was part of the Netherlands squad that reached the final of the 2022 World Cup, where they were beaten by Argentina on penalties.
Dumfries would be a valuable addition to Conte's Tottenham squad, providing competition for Emerson Royal at right-back and Ryan Sessegnon at left-back.
The Italian coach is keen to strengthen his squad this summer, and Dumfries is one of several players he is targeting.
Tottenham are also interested in signing Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma, Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan and Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
