Cardinals Elevate Two Players to 10-Day Roster

The St. Louis Cardinals have elevated two players to the 10-day roster, right-handed pitcher Jake Woodford and infielder Nolan Gorman. To make room on the roster, the Cardinals optioned right-handed pitcher Seth Elledge to Triple-A Memphis and designated infielder Yairo Munoz for assignment.

Woodford has made three relief appearances for the Cardinals this season, allowing one run on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. He has a 3.60 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 10 relief appearances for Memphis this season.

Gorman has hit .301/.385/.530 with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs in 58 games for Memphis this season. He was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for the week of May 16-22 after hitting .391/.474/.852 with three home runs and nine RBIs in six games.

The Cardinals are hoping that Woodford and Gorman can provide a spark to a team that has lost six of its last eight games. The Cardinals are currently in third place in the NL Central, 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers.
