ADAMS ON WINS: The mayor encourages New Yorkers to 'read the indictment' charging him, defends City Hall staff turnover

Mayor Eric Adams spoke publicly for the first time on Tuesday about the indictment charging him with violating campaign finance laws.

Adams has been accused of coordinating with a political action committee to skirt contribution limits during his successful 2021 mayoral campaign.

“I want you to read the indictment. You tell me what I did that’s criminal,” Adams said in an interview on WABC radio’s “The Brian Lehrer Show.” “I didn’t do anything wrong, and you’re going to see that as this case unfolds.”

Adams has also defended his administration’s high staff turnover rate, saying that he is “making changes” to improve City Hall operations.

“We are in the process of making changes,” Adams said. “We are in the process of making sure that we have the right team in place to get the job done.”

Adams has faced criticism for his high staff turnover rate, with several top aides leaving his administration in recent months.

“I’m not going to tolerate people who are not going to do the job,” Adams said. “I’m not going to tolerate people who are not going to be part of the team. I’m not going to tolerate people who are not going to put the needs of the city first.”
