Spaniard leads Hammers to first win of league campaign
Lopetegui era off to a winning start
West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has expressed his belief in his players after the Hammers secured their first win of the Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Goals from Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio gave Lopetegui his first three points as West Ham boss, and the Spaniard was full of praise for his team's performance.
"I am very happy for the players, for the club, and for the fans," Lopetegui said. "We worked very hard in pre-season and we deserved to win today."
"We showed great character and determination, and we created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I am very pleased with the performance.
"I believe in these players. We have a good squad, and we can achieve great things this season.
West Ham's victory lifted them out of the relegation zone and into 16th place in the Premier League table. The Hammers will now look to build on their positive start when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.
