Victor Oladipo: "When I Got Traded, I Felt Disrespected"
Oladipo on His Trade from the Indiana Pacers
Victor Oladipo, now a member of the Miami Heat, recently opened up about his trade from the Indiana Pacers. In an interview with The Athletic, Oladipo said he felt "disrespected" by the Pacers' decision to trade him to the Houston Rockets in 2021.
"I felt like I gave everything I had to that organization," Oladipo said. "I helped them get to the playoffs. I was an All-Star. I was the face of the franchise. And then they just traded me away like I was nothing."
Oladipo was traded to the Rockets as part of a four-team deal that also involved the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacramento Kings. The Pacers received Caris LeVert and a second-round pick in the deal.
Oladipo's Time with the Pacers
Oladipo spent four seasons with the Pacers, averaging 17.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He was an All-Star in 2018 and helped the Pacers reach the playoffs in each of his four seasons with the team.
However, Oladipo's time with the Pacers was also marked by injuries. He missed the entire 2019-20 season with a ruptured quadriceps tendon.
Oladipo's Future with the Heat
Oladipo signed a two-year, $18.2 million deal with the Heat in the offseason. He is expected to play a key role for the Heat, who are looking to compete for a championship this season.
Oladipo is excited about his new opportunity with the Heat. He is confident that he can help the team achieve its goals.
"I'm just grateful for the opportunity to be here," Oladipo said. "I'm going to do everything I can to help this team win."
