Time for Whyte’s Me to claim first Hong Kong win

Local jockey Matthew Chadwick believes Whyte’s Me has a good chance of claiming his first Hong Kong win on Sunday after a number of unlucky runs

Trainer Richard Gibson is looking for Whyte’s Me to finally open his Hong Kong account in the Class Two Bonham Handicap (1,400m) at Sha Tin this weekend.

The four-year-old has placed in his past three starts but is yet to salute since arriving from Australia in May.

Jockey Matthew Chadwick will take the reins of Whyte’s Me for the first time on Sunday, and he believes the galloper has a good chance of claiming his first Hong Kong win.

“He’s a horse that has been racing well without winning,” Chadwick said.

“He’s drawn a good gate, he’s got a good jockey on him, and he’s a horse that is going to be competitive in this sort of race.”

Chadwick said Whyte’s Me is a versatile horse who can race on or off the pace.

“He’s a horse that gives you options,” Chadwick said.

“He can be ridden up on the speed, or he can be ridden back.

“He’s a horse that is going to improve with racing, and he’s a horse that is going to be competitive in this sort of race.”

Whyte’s Me is one of 11 horses entered in the Bonham Handicap, with last-start winner Master Eight the top-rated runner.

Other key contenders include the likes of My Sugar, Enrichment, and Conte.
