"This was just hara-kiri": Bayern star on UCL elimination by Barcelona - Football 24
Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has described his team's Champions League semi-final exit to Barcelona as "hara-kiri" (ritual suicide).
The German giants suffered a shock 3-0 defeat at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night, with Lionel Messi scoring twice and Neymar adding the other.
Kimmich was left to rue Bayern's missed chances, saying: "We had enough chances to score, but we didn't take them. Barcelona punished us for our mistakes."
The defeat was Bayern's first in the Champions League this season, and it ended their hopes of winning a treble of Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League titles.
It was also a disappointing end to the season for Kimmich, who had been one of Bayern's best players in recent months.
The German international is now likely to miss the start of next season through suspension after being sent off in the second half of the match.
Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Kimmich is determined to bounce back next season and help Bayern win more trophies.
"We have to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger next season," he said.
