Szczesny speaks on his ineligibility to play for Barcelona
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou
But he says he is not eligible to play for the club
Wojciech Szczesny has said that he is not eligible to play for Barcelona as things stand.
The Poland international has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou in recent months, but he has now ruled out the possibility of a transfer.
“I’m not eligible to play for Barcelona at the moment,” Szczesny told reporters. “I’m a Juventus player and I’m focused on playing for Juventus. I’m happy here and I’m not thinking about leaving.”
Szczesny has been in impressive form for Juventus this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in 31 Serie A appearances.
He has also played a key role in Juventus’s run to the Champions League final, where they will face Real Madrid.
Szczesny’s comments will come as a blow to Barcelona, who are in need of a new goalkeeper.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been the club’s No. 1 for the past few seasons, but he has been linked with a move to Chelsea.
