Russian fighter makes unexpected prediction for Chimaev vs. Whittaker
Petr Yan weighs in on the highly anticipated welterweight clash
Russian bantamweight contender Petr Yan has made an unexpected prediction for the upcoming welterweight clash between Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker.
Yan favors Whittaker in the matchup
In a recent interview, Yan stated that he believes Whittaker will emerge victorious in the highly anticipated bout.
"I think Whittaker is a very tough opponent for Chimaev," Yan said. "He's a great wrestler and he has very good striking. I think he's going to be too much for Chimaev."
Yan's reasoning for the prediction
Yan explained that he believes Whittaker's experience and size will be key factors in the fight.
"Whittaker is a former middleweight champion," Yan said. "He's been in there with some of the best fighters in the world. I think his experience is going to be a big advantage for him."
"And Whittaker is a big guy," Yan continued. "He's going to have a size advantage over Chimaev. I think that's going to be a big factor in the fight."
Chimaev remains a dangerous opponent
Despite his prediction, Yan acknowledged that Chimaev is a dangerous opponent.
"Chimaev is a very dangerous fighter," Yan said. "He's very strong and he has very good wrestling. I think he's going to be a tough challenge for Whittaker."
"But I think Whittaker is the better fighter," Yan added. "I think he's going to win the fight."
