Real Madrid enter the race to sign Aymeric Laporte
La Liga giants join Manchester City and Chelsea in pursuit of Manchester City defender
Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to sign Aymeric Laporte, with the Spanish giants joining Manchester City and Chelsea in the pursuit of the Manchester City defender.
Laporte has been a key player for Manchester City since joining the club from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.
The 28-year-old has won four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and one FA Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Laporte has been linked with a move away from Manchester City in recent months, with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea all said to be interested in signing him.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen to sign Laporte as a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos.
The Spanish defender left Real Madrid for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer, and the club are yet to find a suitable replacement.
Laporte is seen as an ideal candidate to fill the void left by Ramos, as he is a left-footed centre-back with good distribution and aerial ability.
Manchester City are reportedly reluctant to sell Laporte, but they may be forced to cash in on the defender if they receive a substantial offer.
The Premier League champions are in need of funds to finance their summer spending, and they may be willing to sell Laporte if they receive a bid in the region of £60 million.
Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing Laporte, but they may have to wait until next summer to make a move for the defender.
The Blues are currently under a transfer ban, and they will not be able to sign any players until the summer of 2023.
Laporte is under contract at Manchester City until 2025, and it remains to be seen whether he will leave the club this summer.
