President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pay State Visit to Mongolia
Deepening Bilateral Relations and Expanding Cooperation
Dates and Agenda of the State Visit
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan will embark on a state visit to Mongolia from July 11 to 13, 2023, at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh.
During his visit, President Tokayev will hold official talks with President Khürelsükh, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in various fields.
Strengthening Economic and Trade Ties
The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Astana and Ulaanbaatar share a strong desire to increase bilateral trade volume, which currently stands at over $100 million.
Kazakhstan is keen on exploring investment opportunities in Mongolia's mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Mongolia, in turn, is interested in accessing Kazakhstan's agricultural products, machinery, and transportation services.
Security and Regional Cooperation
President Tokayev and President Khürelsükh will also exchange views on regional security and cooperation. Kazakhstan and Mongolia are both members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and share common interests in promoting stability and prosperity in Central and East Asia.
The two sides are expected to discuss joint efforts in combating terrorism, extremism, and cross-border crime.
Cultural and People-to-People Exchanges
In addition to political and economic issues, President Tokayev and President Khürelsükh will also focus on promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Kazakhstan and Mongolia have a rich history of cultural interaction, and the two countries are keen on deepening these ties through educational exchanges, cultural performances, and tourism.
