No. 12 Mustangs Sweep Notre Dame: A Volleyball Power Display
A Dominant Performance
In a thrilling match, the No. 12 SMU Mustangs women’s volleyball team swept the University of Notre Dame in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-13) at Moody Coliseum on Friday night.
The Mustangs dominated the match from the start, controlling the pace and dictating the terms of the game.
SMU’s offense was firing on all cylinders, with four players recording double-digit kills. Senior outside hitter Morgan Heise led the way with 13 kills, while sophomore middle blocker London Austin added 11 kills and four blocks.
Impressive Defense
The Mustangs’ defense was equally impressive, holding Notre Dame to a .141 hitting percentage.
Sophomore libero Caroline Young led the defensive effort with 17 digs, while senior defensive specialist Hannah Jacobs added 10 digs.
SMU’s relentless defense forced Notre Dame into numerous errors, giving the Mustangs an edge in the match.
A Strategic Masterclass
Head coach Lisa Seifert praised her team’s performance, highlighting their strategic execution.
"We scouted Notre Dame very well and came up with a game plan that we executed to perfection," Seifert said.
"Our players were disciplined and played with a lot of heart tonight."
