Newcastle not in talks over new Isak contract
Newcastle United have no plans to open talks over a new contract with Alexander Isak until next summer, 90min understands.
The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in a club-record £60m deal last month.
The 23-year-old has signed a long-term deal at St James' Park, but Newcastle are in no rush to extend his stay on Tyneside further.
Isak has made a solid start to life in the Premier League, scoring one goal in three appearances so far.
However, Newcastle are keen to see how he performs over a longer period of time before committing to a new contract.
The club are also aware that Isak's value could increase significantly if he continues to impress for both club and country.
As a result, they are happy to wait until next summer before opening talks over a new deal.
Isak is understood to be content with his current situation at Newcastle and is not pushing for a new contract.
The striker is focused on establishing himself in the Premier League and helping Newcastle achieve their goals this season.
