Travis Kelce makes the case for Patrick Mahomes as NFL MVP
Chiefs star says the accolades matter, but he's motivated by winning, not individual awards
Mahomes is a leading candidate for NFL MVP, but Kelce says he's focused on winning more than anything
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made the case for Patrick Mahomes as NFL MVP during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.
Kelce said Mahomes is "the best quarterback in the league" and that he's "doing things that nobody else can do."
"He's a special player," Kelce said. "He's got all the tools. He's got the arm strength, the accuracy, the mobility, the intelligence. He's got it all."
Kelce also said that Mahomes is a great leader and that he's always putting his teammates first.
"He's a guy that's always trying to make the players around him better," Kelce said. "He's a guy that's always trying to win. He's a guy that's always trying to do the right thing. He's a great role model for our team."
Mahomes is a leading candidate for NFL MVP this season. He has thrown for 4,487 yards and 35 touchdowns with just 10 interceptions. He has also rushed for 358 yards and four touchdowns.
The Chiefs are currently 12-3 and are in first place in the AFC West. They have won their last four games and are looking to make a run at the Super Bowl.
Kelce said that while the individual accolades are nice, Mahomes is focused on winning more than anything.
"He's not worried about the MVP," Kelce said. "He's worried about winning football games. He's worried about winning the Super Bowl. He's worried about being the best quarterback he can be."
