Kaliningrad's Baltika Back at the Top of the First League

Baltika Returns to First Place

Kaliningrad's Baltika football club has reclaimed the top spot in the Russian Football National League, also known as the First League, following a 2-0 victory over Zenit-2.

Road to Victory

Baltika took an early lead in the 12th minute when Aleksandr Rudenko headed in a cross from Daniil Knyazev.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 57th minute through Giorgi Aburjania's close-range finish, assisted by Ilya Kamyshev.

Maintaining Dominance

With this victory, Baltika has now accumulated 46 points from 23 matches, moving two points clear of second-placed Kuban Krasnodar.

Baltika's strong defensive display, which has seen them concede only 18 goals in 23 games, has been a key factor in their success.

The club's recent form has been impressive, with four wins and one draw in their last five league outings.

Club's Statement

"We're delighted to be back on top of the table," said Baltika head coach Sergei Ignashevich.

"The team worked hard and deserved the victory. We're not getting carried away, though, and we know there's still a long way to go."

Promotion Bid

Baltika is now in a strong position to secure promotion to the Russian Premier League, the top tier of Russian football.

The top two teams in the First League at the end of the season will earn automatic promotion.

With 11 matches remaining in the season, Baltika will be determined to maintain their momentum and secure a return to the Premier League.
