Boston Escapes Detroit With 127-121 Victory
Jayson Tatum's 37 points led the Boston Celtics to a 127-121 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena. The Celtics improved to 33-12 with the win, while the Pistons fell to 12-33.
Tatum Catches Fire in Second Half
Tatum scored just 10 points in the first half, but he caught fire in the second half, scoring 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting. He also added 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Pistons led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but Tatum's heroics helped the Celtics rally for the victory. Tatum hit a pair of free throws with 1:04 remaining to give the Celtics a 123-117 lead, and the Pistons were unable to get any closer.
Brown and Horford Make Solid Contributions
Jaylen Brown added 22 points for the Celtics, while Al Horford chipped in with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Celtics shot 50.6% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.
Jerami Grant led the Pistons with 31 points, while Saddiq Bey added 22 points. The Pistons shot 46.7% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
Pistons Make a Game of It
The Pistons trailed by 14 points with less than five minutes remaining, but they rallied to cut the deficit to just two points with 1:37 left.
Grant hit a three-pointer to make it 123-121, but Tatum's free throws sealed the victory for the Celtics.
