How I Spent 19 Days in Pakistan in Summer 2024: Part 3, Peshawar-Abbottabad-Rawalpindi

A Transformative Journey through the Heart of Pakistan

In this third installment of my travelogue, I embark on the second leg of my adventure through the captivating landscapes of Pakistan. This time, my journey takes me from the bustling city of Peshawar to the serene hills of Abbottabad, and finally to the bustling metropolis of Rawalpindi.

Peshawar: A City of History and Culture

Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, is a melting pot of cultures and traditions. I spent two fascinating days exploring its rich history and vibrant street life.

One of the highlights of my time in Peshawar was a visit to the Bala Hisar Fort, a centuries-old citadel that has witnessed countless battles and empires. The fort offers breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings.

I also had the opportunity to delve into Peshawar's culinary delights at Namak Mandi, a bustling market known for its traditional street food. The succulent kebabs and aromatic spices left an unforgettable impression on my taste buds.

Abbottabad: A Haven amidst the Himalayas

From Peshawar, I journeyed north to Abbottabad, a picturesque town nestled amidst the foothills of the Himalayas. The drive offered stunning views of lush green valleys and towering mountains.

In Abbottabad, I visited the Pakistan Military Academy, where I gained insights into the country's military history and traditions. I also explored the Ayubia National Park, where I marveled at the beauty of towering pine forests and cascading waterfalls.

One of the most memorable experiences of my stay in Abbottabad was a hike to the Dunga Gali, a scenic hilltop with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Rawalpindi: Gateway to the North

My final stop on this leg of my journey was Rawalpindi, a vibrant city that serves as the gateway to the northern areas of Pakistan. I spent a day exploring its bustling markets and historical sites.

One of the highlights of my time in Rawalpindi was a visit to the Rawalpindi Museum, which houses a fascinating collection of artifacts and historical exhibits.

I also had the opportunity to visit the Fatima Jinnah Park, a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. The park is named after the sister of Pakistan's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

As I bid farewell to Rawalpindi, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the incredible journey I had experienced thus far. Pakistan had proven to be a land of rich history, vibrant cultures, and breathtaking beauty.
