Prisoners escaped from a penal colony

On 19 August, six prisoners escaped from the penal colony No. 4 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Lipetsk. The convicts were serving sentences for serious crimes, including murder, robbery, and extortion.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the escape. A special operation has been launched to search for the fugitives.

The fugitives were detained

On 20 August, all six prisoners who escaped from the Lipetsk penal colony were detained. They were found in a forest near the village of Ivanovka.

The fugitives were armed and offered resistance to the police. During the detention, one of the convicts was killed and another was injured.

The Ministry of Justice reported that the detained convicts will be returned to the penal colony.
