Moto2™: Ai Ogura takes the crown in a dramatic final race at Valencia
Ai Ogura has been crowned the 2024 Moto2™ World Champion after a thrilling final race at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. The Japanese rider held off a late charge from Aron Canet to take the title by just 0.063 seconds.
Ogura started the race from pole position and led for the majority of the race. However, Canet closed the gap in the final laps and looked set to snatch the title away from him. But Ogura held on to take the victory and the championship.
Ogura's dominant season
Ogura has been in dominant form all season, winning six races and taking eight podiums. He has been the most consistent rider in the field and has deservedly taken the title.
The Japanese rider has now moved up to the MotoGP™ class for 2025, and he will be one to watch in the premier class.
Canet's strong finish
Canet has also had a strong season, winning three races and taking six podiums. The Spaniard pushed Ogura all the way to the end, and he will be disappointed to have missed out on the title by such a small margin.
Canet will be back next season to challenge for the title again, and he will be one of the favorites to win it.
