Nazarius comes from Rome and was the son of the Christian Perpetua - the widow of the Christian martyr Timolaus. In his youth, Nazarius entered military service and went to serve in Gaul. There, by his piety and deeds of mercy, he converted many pagans to Christ.>
Later, Nazarius was transferred to serve in Rome. Here he became famous for his healing gift. The fame of him as a healer reached the emperor Nero, who was suffering from a serious illness. Nero summoned Nazarius to him and demanded that he heal him. However, Nazarius refused to fulfill the will of the emperor, saying that he could not heal the one who shed the blood of innocent Christians.
