Florida State survives another close call in Week 3, but this one wasn’t so close
Florida State survived their toughest test of the 2023 season in Week 3, beating the Louisville Cardinals 35-31. However, the Seminoles had to rally from a 14-point deficit in the second half to do it. What made this victory different from Week 1 and Week 2 was that the offense finally came to life. Quarterback Jordan Travis threw for 321 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Treshaun Ward added 126 yards on the ground. The defense also played well, forcing three turnovers.
The Seminoles offense finally came to life in Week 3
Florida State’s offense had been struggling in the first two weeks of the season. They were only able to score 14 points in their season-opening loss to Duquesne and 17 points in their win over LSU. However, the offense finally came to life against Louisville. Travis threw for 321 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ward added 126 yards on the ground. The Seminoles also converted 8 of their 14 third-down attempts.
The defense played well, forcing three turnovers
The Seminoles defense played well against Louisville, forcing three turnovers. Safety Jammie Robinson had two interceptions, including one in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Defensive end Patrick Payton also had an interception. The defense also held Louisville to just 31 points, which is the lowest total they have allowed all season.
The Seminoles are now 3-0 and ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll
Florida State is now 3-0 and ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll. They have a big game next week against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. If they can win that game, they will be in a good position to make a run at the ACC Championship Game.
