FC Akhmat Grozny and FC Rostov Draw 1-1 in the Russian Premier League
FC Akhmat Grozny and FC Rostov played out a 1-1 draw in the Russian Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Dzyuba gave Rostov the lead in the first half, but Akhmat substitute Khaled Kadyrov equalized in the second half to earn a share of the spoils.
The result leaves Akhmat in 13th place in the table, while Rostov are up to 10th.
Akhmat started the game brightly and had the first chance of the match when Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov fired wide from the edge of the area.
Rostov gradually grew into the game and took the lead in the 25th minute when Dzyuba headed home from close range following a corner.
Akhmat pushed for an equalizer in the second half and were rewarded when Kadyrov came off the bench to score in the 70th minute.
Both sides had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither could find a way to break the deadlock.
The draw was a fair result in the end, with both teams showing plenty of attacking intent.
Akhmat will be disappointed not to have taken all three points, but they will be pleased with their performance.
Rostov will be happy to have taken a point away from home, and they will be looking to build on this result in their next game.
The two teams will meet again in the Russian Cup on March 5.
