Dozens Wounded as Truck Rams Bus Stop at Glilot Junction near Tel Aviv
Over 20 people were injured, some seriously, after a truck rammed into a bus stop near Tel Aviv, Israel.
The incident occurred at the Glilot Junction at around 7 p.m. on Monday evening. The bus stop was crowded with people at the time of the attack, according to witnesses.
The truck driver, who has been identified as a 32-year-old resident of the West Bank, was arrested at the scene. Police are investigating the incident as a possible terror attack.
According to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, 23 people were injured in the attack. Six of the victims are in serious condition, while the rest are in moderate or mild condition.
Several of the victims have been identified as foreign workers. The Chinese Embassy in Israel has confirmed that four Chinese nationals were injured in the attack, one of whom is in serious condition.
The attack has been widely condemned by Israeli officials. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a "heinous terror attack" and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
President Reuven Rivlin expressed his condolences to the victims and their families. He said that Israel will not be defeated by terror and will continue to fight against those who seek to harm its citizens.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Israel in recent weeks. On Sunday, a Palestinian gunman opened fire at a bus stop in the West Bank, killing two Israelis and injuring two others.
The Israeli government has increased security measures in response to the recent attacks. The IDF has deployed additional troops to the West Bank and has set up checkpoints and roadblocks.
