Diванович Likely To Rejoin Akhmat This Week
Grozny Club Hopeful Over Serbian Star's Return
Player Struck Down By Injury In Pre-Season Friendly
Akhmat Grozny are expecting Nenad Divanović to return to first-team training this week, the club has announced. The Serbian midfielder has been out of action since suffering an injury in a pre-season friendly against FK Rostov in July.
The 29-year-old had been in impressive form for Akhmat before his injury, scoring twice in four appearances. He is a key player for the Chechen club and his return will be a major boost to their hopes of success this season.
Akhmat are currently ninth in the Russian Premier League after 10 games, having won four, drawn two and lost four. They are just two points behind fifth-placed Spartak Moscow and will be looking to push on up the table with Divanović back in the side.
The Serbian international has been capped 12 times by his country and has also played for Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade and Anderlecht. He joined Akhmat in January 2022 and has quickly become a fan favourite.
Akhmat will be back in action on Saturday when they host Ural Yekaterinburg in the Russian Premier League. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games.
