DC, Virginia Announce Road Closures Ahead of Marine Corps Marathon
Traffic Impacts Expected for Major Event
The Marine Corps Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, October 30, and officials in both Washington, D.C., and Virginia have announced road closures and traffic impacts in anticipation of the event.
Washington, D.C. Closures
In Washington, D.C., road closures will begin as early as 6:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until the marathon concludes. The following streets will be closed:
- Arlington Memorial Bridge: Closed from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Memorial Circle: Closed from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Ohio Drive: Closed from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Virginia Closures
In Virginia, road closures will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until 3:00 p.m. The following streets will be closed:
- George Washington Memorial Parkway: Closed from Spout Run Parkway to Route 110.
- Route 110: Closed from George Washington Memorial Parkway to Washington Boulevard.
- Washington Boulevard: Closed from Route 110 to I-395.
Alternate Routes and Transportation
Drivers are advised to avoid affected areas and use alternate routes during the marathon. Public transportation will be available, and Metro stations near the course will be open for extended hours.
