Chargers make late roster moves before Week 8 vs. Saints
Los Angeles Chargers Make A Flurry of Roster Moves Before Week 8 Matchup Against the New Orleans Saints
The Los Angeles Chargers have made a few roster moves ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The team announced on Saturday that they have signed wide receiver DeAndre Carter and waived wide receiver Jason Moore to make room for him on the roster.
Carter is a five-year NFL veteran who has played for the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders. He has 101 career receptions for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns.
Moore was signed by the Chargers in August and has played in one game this season. He has one career reception for 15 yards.
The Chargers also announced that they have placed cornerback Michael Davis on injured reserve. Davis suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Davis has started all seven games for the Chargers this season and has 30 tackles, two interceptions, and five pass breakups.
The Chargers will now have to rely on Asante Samuel Jr., Bryce Callahan, and Tevaughn Campbell at cornerback. Samuel Jr. has been a bright spot for the Chargers this season, with 35 tackles, two interceptions, and six pass breakups.
The Chargers will face a Saints team that is coming off a bye week. The Saints are 3-4 this season, but they have won two of their last three games.
The Chargers will need to play well in all three phases of the game if they want to beat the Saints and improve to 4-3 on the season.
Chargers Sign Kicker Cameron Dicker to Practice Squad
The Los Angeles Chargers have signed kicker Cameron Dicker to their practice squad, the team announced on Monday. Dicker was released by the Philadelphia Eagles last week after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Texas.
Dicker made 18 of 23 field goals (78.3%) and 33 of 35 extra points (94.3%) in his collegiate career. He was a Second Team All-Big 12 selection in 2021.
The Chargers currently have Dustin Hopkins as their starting kicker, but Dicker will provide some depth and competition at the position.
Chargers Waive Linebacker Nick Niemann
The Los Angeles Chargers have waived linebacker Nick Niemann, the team announced on Tuesday. Niemann was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2022.
Niemann played in one game for the Chargers this season, recording one tackle.
The Chargers now have 52 players on their active roster and 16 players on their practice squad.
