Andy Carroll answers Liverpool 'regret' question and makes retirement claim

Liverpool legend Andy Carroll has admitted that he regrets leaving the club in 2011.

The striker, who scored 11 goals in 58 appearances for the Reds, left Anfield to join West Ham United for £15 million.

Speaking to The Athletic, Carroll said: "I regret leaving Liverpool. I was only 22 when I left and I think I could have achieved a lot more there."

Carroll also revealed that he is considering retirement at the end of the season.

"I'm 33 now and my body is starting to feel it," he said. "I've had a lot of injuries in the past few years and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going."

Carroll has been linked with a move to China or the Middle East, but he is also open to staying in England.

"I'll see how I feel at the end of the season," he said. "I've got a few options and I'll make a decision then."
