Elba's Alvin Henderson Sets AHSAA Career Rushing Record in 40-24 Comeback Win over Florala

Record-Breaking Performance

Alvin Henderson, a senior running back for the Elba Tigers, made history on Friday night by setting the Alabama High School Athletic Association's (AHSAA) career rushing record. In a thrilling 40-24 comeback victory over the Florala Wildcats, Henderson rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his career total to 7,988 yards.

Overcoming Adversity

Henderson's record-breaking performance came in a game that was not without its challenges. The Tigers trailed 24-14 at halftime, but they rallied in the second half behind Henderson's dominant running. He scored the game-tying touchdown on a 25-yard run in the third quarter, and he put Elba ahead for good with a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Historic Moment

Henderson's record-breaking run was a historic moment for Elba High School and the AHSAA. He is now the all-time leading rusher in AHSAA history, surpassing the previous record of 7,887 yards set by Demarco Murray of Corsicana High School in 2005.
